SARS operatives in Asaba arrested some human
traffickers and rescued seven trafficked children including 10 year-old Sunday
Michael, last year and handed them over to the Ministry of Women
Affairs Asaba for care.
On January 26, 2016 one
Michael Elijah Johnson of Nukind, Ibesikpo L.G.A of Akwa Ibom state
reported to the Command and identified Sunday Michael as his
biological son.
Having ascertained his claim to be true, the rescued boy
was handed over to him by the Commissioner of Police, CP. Alkali Baba
Usman.
According to a
statement issued by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP
Celestine Kalu, there are still three years old girl and
four babies aged between 3-12 months yet to be claimed by their parents.
He advised parents whose children/wards within the aforementioned age
bracket are
missing to report to SARS office Asaba to check if the
children are theirs with adequate proof for collection.
The Command appeals to parents to be watchful over their children/wards at all times.
