‘Untameable excitement’, ‘mind blowing performances’ and ‘endless creativity’ are a few phrases expressionsthat describe the Sprite Triple Slam {STS} activation since it resumed s launch in September August2015.
With students turning up in the hundreds thousands to show their raw basketball, music and dance skills, it has been a fusion of great slam dunks, unique punch lines, and hot dance moves and grand slam dunks at each of the activations ed campusesso far.
To date, the STS train has been to 5 campuses:including; UNIBEN, UNICAL, UI, ESUST and IMSU Esuth, Unibadan, Unical, Uniben and IMSU.
Aside from unforgettable basketball and dance moves Besides the unique show of skills and talent, a key highlightsof the activations se campuses has been performances ve included students enjoying hot tunesby some of Nigeria’s hottest artistes such as freestyle rap king Vector tha Viper, reggae dancehall sensation artist Patoranking (who,during in the middle ofhis performance in UNICAL, gave out his pair of Versace boots to a student in the audience), and hip-hop budding star Tekno.lyrically gifted rapper Vector who hosted a mini party on stage while performing at UNIBEN.
“I was in 100 level on campus when
I emerged the winner in the regional competitions and progressed to the finals
which held in Lagos. During the STS grand finale, I was approached to play in
the Nigerian Basketball League, and since then, my life has never been the
same."
Recalling his experience in the ESUST activation, Odohchukwu Ebuka,
a 300 level undergraduate of Anthropology who came tops in the music category
said his first experience with the Sprite Triple Slam activation was in 2010
during his high school years. Enrolling in the activation which held in Abuja,
Ebuka said:
“I participated in the Rap
category. However, because I was just starting out, I did not make it to the
top. After the competition, Iimproved on my skills, hoping that someday, I
would participate again in another edition of the Sprite Triple Slam, and today
I am happy I dusted everybody.”
Oritsefemi David, a 200-level undergraduate of Theatre and Media
Studies who gave an impressive act with his 45seconds head spin, revealed that
determination kept him going to the final round of the dance category. He
hailed the Sprite brand for giving him the opportunity to express himself, and
for choosing his campus, UNICAL, as one
of this year’s activation locations.
