She was rescued from her bedroom in the first-floor flat and taken outside, where firefighters and paramedics battled to save her with CPR.
But she was pronounced dead when she arrived at Royal Oldham Hospital, theManchester Evening News reports . It is thought the fire started after Emma fell asleep with a lit cigarette.
Emma’s devastated dad, Douglas, and mum Ann, have now paid tribute to her - and are warning people to be careful smoking at home.“Emma loved to dress up in bright colours and her favourite colour was pink. We want to bury her wearing pink.
“They think she fell asleep with a lit cigarette. I want to appeal to people to be careful and not smoke in their bedrooms.
“I wouldn’t want anyone else to die that way. They say she wasn’t in any pain and that the smoke just sent her to sleep. We’re just glad she didn’t suffer.” her father said.
